Edge Charter School Classroom Rules

Rules for classroom behavior are developed by each of the teachers to maintain an orderly, comfortable learning environment and may vary among sites. Please ask your classroom teachers or case manager to further explain the policies for the following items or issues:

Eating/Drinking in class is allowed if it is done responsible, with out disruption to the learning environment.

Use of music (i.e., "walkmans"): Externally broadcasting radios, tapes and CD players will not be allowed on campus unless authorized by Edge staff. Personal stereos with headphones may be used before class, but are only allowed in the classroom with special permission from the teacher. Audio systems in vehicles around the school must be maintained at low levels. This is in accordance with city code.

Beepers/Cellular Phones/Phone Calls: Because of the disruptive nature of beepers and cellular phones, their usage is not allowed in the school, at school activities or during the school day. In an emergency situation, a parent/guardian wanting to reach his/her child may call the Edge site case manager. Students are not allowed to use Edge phones for personal calls. In emergency situations, calls must be approved by Edge staff.

Animals: Other than service animals, animals are not allowed on campus when school is in session.

Many of these topics can also be found in the Policies and Procedures manual. Our handbook of policies and procedures is available for download as a pdf. Click here to view.
