When you think of high school, you probably think of math, science, social studies – the academics that are required to graduate. But at Edge High School, education is about so much more. Edge teaches academics, but we also teach “emotional intelligence skills” – the skills and tools that you can use to navigate the world now and beyond graduation. These skills do more than just help you to stay on pace with your classes. They help you make decisions, solve problems, build healthy relationships, and cope with the obstacles of life. They help you understand who you are and what you want out of life. Ready to get started? Here’s how we can help!

Social Emotional Learning

Each quarter we offer a class in “Emotional Intelligence”, where you’ll learn to identify and manage your emotions and then apply those skills to problem solving and decision-making. It’s part of our online emotional intelligence curriculum, BASE Education. BASE courses can help you understand and build a variety of Life Skills, including how to navigate self-worth, develop a growth mindset, process grief, learn goal-setting strategies, create healthy relationships, and more.

On-site Counseling Support

We have licensed social workers on staff who listen without judgment, teach coping mechanisms including self-care strategies, and work to help you identify barriers to success and then help you to remove them.

Off Campus Supports

We have partnerships with several community resources to support your mental health.

Edge has partnerships with Casa De Los Ninos, Pathways, and Community Bridges, Incorporated. Through these partners we can help students connect to free counseling.  We also have a Student Assistance program which provides you with a phone number you can call 24/7 from anywhere and be connected to mental health professionals. We are here for you, every day.

If you would like to be connected to these resources, simply call our Student Assistance program at 1-833-251-9941. We will help find the right fit and make the initial referral.

Other Partnerships For Support

Edge partners with nonprofits and businesses throughout Arizona that offer services to help students stay enrolled and thrive. We’ll help you connect with these partner programs if you need them. We have a lot of resources that you can access, but here’s a quick look at a few of the partners we work with:

  •     Arizona Youth Partnership builds healthy youth through programs that address substance abuse, homelessness, pregnancy, and challenging home dynamics.
  •     Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation promotes health and well-being for teens living with HIV, as well as LGBTQ+ individuals and communities marginalized by society.
  •     Community Wide Crisis Line can help with suicide prevention, domestic and sexual violence, and non-emergency warm talk. Their number is (520) 622-6000 or 1(866) 495-6735.
  •     Youth On Their Own supports homeless youth on their journey to graduation with access to financial assistance, housing options, and more.

Building Healthy Relationships

At Edge, your teachers and counselors want to see and hear you. We value your thoughts and ideas, and will help you build skills to speak up for yourself, make your own decisions about your life, and identify others who will support you in your goals. We check-in daily to find out how you are doing in school and in life, and get you any support you may need in overcoming obstacles. As a staff, we go by our first names with our students – letting you know that the minute you walk through our doors you will be treated differently at Edge. We are all equals.
