10 Edge High School students jumping in front of an outdoor mural that spells out “Be Kind” in tiles”

The first time you walk into Edge you may have a pretty good idea of what high school is. Based on your experience. Based on what people tell you.

But you probably don’t have an idea of what high school can be.

At Edge, we are a tuition-free public charter school. But that may be where the similarities end with other public high schools. Because like you, we don’t fit the mold.

We’re Small

Edge is a small school – our two campuses enroll under 250 students, compared to 1,500+ at other schools in Tucson. Our class sizes average 22 students or fewer, vs. 30+ at nearby traditional high schools. That means you are a valued member of our school community. You’re free to express your opinions here, and you will be heard. Your classmates and teachers want to hear your voice and your ideas. You matter.

We Know You

Edge teachers and staff will get to know you on a personal level. Our self-paced instructional model is built on 1:1 instruction which allows space for our teachers and students during every class period to check-in on academics  — and well-being. You can schedule 1:1 meetings with teachers and staff before or after school, according to your schedule and other commitments.

Our counseling staff functions on a 50:1 ratio of students to staff, vs. traditional high schools which maintain 300:1 or more.  That means we have plenty of time to meet with you to map out your goals and create an individualized lesson plan for graduation and life after graduation. And we’ll give you the support you need to reach your goals.

You’ll Know Us

At Edge, all staff go by our first names with our students. We are all equals. We’ll check in with each other daily – to talk about school, upcoming projects, challenges you are facing, or just to say hi. We’ll listen without judgment, provide support, and connect you with resources if you need it.

We Do It Your Way

Our self-paced learning model doesn’t look like traditional high schools. At Edge, you are in charge of learning, at your own pace. We know that there may be unique challenges and barriers that are present in your life, and we can help you build a flexible path to graduation that accommodates those circumstances. And if circumstances change? We’ll have a plan for that too.
