Let’s be honest. Some days in high school can feel like you’re constantly head-down, grinding on class work, projects and assignments. Days like that make it easy to forget that there’s an end in sight. At Edge High School, that end is graduation. But it’s also something more: it’s a beginning.

This May we’ll be celebrating graduates from our Himmel Park and Northwest campuses. We’re so proud of the work they did to get to this milestone. And we’re also proud of the new directions they’ll be headed. Wondering what’s next? Here are some different pathways that are open to you when you graduate from Edge.

Community College

Edge High School has a partnership with Pima Community College and each year approximately 60-70% of our students attend Pima as their first step after graduation. Pima is a two-year community college with campuses throughout greater Tucson. You can start at Pima and then transfer into a four-year program, or you can graduate from Pima with training that will get you into a career in IT, healthcare, applied tech and more.

Four Year University

The University of Arizona is a well-respected, local four year university that offers many different education tracks – and 150 different majors! We partner with UofA each year – bringing Edge students to tour the UA campus, conducting annual overnights at UA Sky School, and field trips to UA Museum of Art and UA Poetry Center.

Military Service

Looking for a generous signing bonus, career training and even a college scholarship? Military recruiters visit Edge campuses throughout the year to chat about post-high school options and answer questions.

Vocational Opportunities

There are so many options for Edge graduates who want to go straight to work after high school – and some of them can be explored while you’re still a student here.

Pima JTED programs offer free career and technical education for students still in high school.  JTED programs can help you earn industry certifications and state licenses, gain real-world experience, leadership skills, and even earn dual college credit.

While you’re enrolled at Edge, you can also check out different professions through our service learning program – which sets up current students in volunteer positions at businesses in Tucson. Goodwill of Southern Arizona offers a training program for our students, and we offer tours and visits to learn about job opportunities at local assisted living facilities, the Republic Services Recycling Plant, and more.

Edge staff can help match you with training for auto mechanics, welding, and other trades. Every year we visit a Career Expo in Tucson to learn about jobs in healthcare and cyber security, and network with local employers. We also attend the Southern AZ Construction Career Days to learn more about careers in the construction industry, including trades, infrastructure, utilities, engineering, design and architecture and more. Construction companies are looking to hire more women, and it’s a great opportunity for Edge grads!

After you earn your diploma, the Lapan Sunshine Foundation’s career program can provide support to transition successfully to life after high school – including helping with interview skills, personality assessments, and more. They also offer financial support to cover college expenses, based on the grades you earn in high school. Lapan can even lead to job opportunities for Edge grads!

At Edge, your high school diploma is just the first step towards a successful future. Learn more about how Edge can help you plan for life after high school – enroll today.
