One of the most amazing things about our small high school is the access we can provide to big opportunities. Edge High School is well connected to a wide variety of community organizations that we rely on to help our students succeed in high school, career and life. We’ve recently forged a few new partnerships that are serving our students well. Check them out:

Lapan College & Career Club

Provides opportunities for Edge graduates to participate in their Summer Leadership Summit that takes place over the first full week of August. The goal of the summit is to better prepare students for their freshman year of college by connecting them with mentors in their fields of interest.

Through participating in Lapan’s Leadership Summit, several Edge grads over the past few years have found employment and financial aid. One Edge grad and Leadership Summit alum found housing through Lapan’s housing project called Sunshine Casitas

Lapan College and Career Club also operates the Sunshine Foundation which provides Pet Therapy to schools. Their animals and trainers have been on Edge campuses multiple times and add a calming presence and help ground students struggling with mental health issues.

Goodwill Of Southern Arizona

Through Goodwill of Southern Arizona’s Youth Employment Program, Edge students can take a 9 week Employability Skills class at both Edge campuses. Students receive soft skills training around barriers to employment, self-care, and goal setting. They will also learn how to write a resume, complete a job application, practice interviewing, and develop financial literacy skills.

Students who complete this course earn .25 elective or vocational credit and are eligible to apply for paid internships after school or over the summer. Internships range in length from 120 hours to 300 hours. Reid Park Zoo, SAAVI, and Goodwill’s thrift stores are some of the agencies that have hosted Edge students as interns.

Teaching, learning and growing is big work, and we can’t do it alone. We are forever grateful to these tremendous organizations for lending their support to our students and our school. Together, we’re finding Success for Every Student, Every Day
