Success looks different for every student who walks through the doors of Edge High School. For Cailyn Summers, success meant achieving her goal of graduating from high school on her own timeline – in less than four years.

Cailyn was looking for a different high school option and chose Edge based on a referral from a friend. Completing high school in less than four years isn’t a simple task and she needed a school that could help her make it possible.

Our tuition-free high school offers a self-paced model that enrolls students in three core academic classes at a time. This means that you can complete a course that is normally a semester long in almost HALF the time. As soon as you complete a course you are able to start the next one in your learning plan and move ahead without waiting for a new quarter or semester to get started.

Edge also has an incredible team of teachers and counselors who help our students make a plan and execute it. With a ratio of 50 students to 1 counselor, Edge students have access to adults who care about their future and want to help them achieve success.

With the help of our staff, Cailyn made a goal sheet that listed every task and class that stood before her and graduation. She took advantage of our shorter school days and self-paced courses so she could finish on her own time. And she checked in with her goal sheet periodically to track her progress, marking off tasks that were complete, and taking pride in all the work she had done.

One step at a time, with her eye on the goal, Cailyn completed high school in less than four years. She credits the teachers and staff at Edge for encouraging her, keeping her on moving forward and helping her to reflect on her own self-growth.

“No one will let you fail. It’s the student’s job to actually do the work and the teachers offer guidance along the way.”

-Cailyn Summers, 2024 Edge High School Graduate

After high school, Cailyn plans to continue her education to become a physical therapist. We know she’ll be going places and doing big things and we can’t wait to watch. Congratulations on your success story, Cailyn! Everyone at Edge is proud of you.
