COVID was and is still disruptive. One of its biggest disruptions and subsequent challenges —  has been its impact on learning. Students all over Tucson, Arizona, the US and the world are struggling. There is a great deal of attention now from the federal government to state leadership to within school districts to assess and address learning loss.

At Edge High School we address learning loss daily. As an alternative high school serving grades 9-12, we have helped thousands of students catch up and graduate. Tuition-free. Since 1985!

Credit recovery, disparate learning styles, challenging home lives, stressful high school environments  — lead students to us time and time again. We help make the uneven, untenable, seemingly insurmountable happen. We break down barriers to success with compassion, 1:1 attention, small classes, an inclusive community and years upon years of experience. We are passionate about helping alternative high school students graduate!

We are a small school. Our students get personalized attention. Every student is known for who he, she or they is — with inclusion, respect and commitment. We create pathways to learning that are flexible, amenable and fluid. We know things can change in an instant — and we work with that, too.

Our passion runs deep for addressing learning loss. We have watched students gain confidence and pride in their abilities as they tackle credits, explore their talents and learn more about who they are,  and ultimately earn their high school diploma. Graduation is a day, an event. But it is also a state of mind — and it changes lives.  It’s an unlock to higher income potential, college attendance, career goals and more.

Our teachers, admin and staff have been together for a long time. We collaborate and communicate to serve each individual Edge student. We are a team — and student success is our biggest goal and proudest achievement. We individualize paths to high school graduation so that every Edge student recovers the credits needed, accesses learning in a method that works for them, and stays engaged with their classes and peers. All on equal footing. All in a safe learning environment.

We are all on a first name basis — from the dedicated principals to the effective teachers to the dynamic and friendly staff to our beloved students. We are ALL adults. We care about each other and we show up each day ready to confirm our commitment to the shining goals and bright futures every student deserves. We see our students time and time again — grow into owning their trajectory, to adapting and persevering, and to accepting their joyous place as a bread-winning, voice mattering, impact-having global citizen.

Learning loss isn’t new. COVID escalated some very real challenges with it. We, at Edge, are here to alleviate it. Our toolkit is ready. Since 1985 Edge has had systems in place to identify skill gaps, provide instruction and support to help students fill in gaps, and recover credit. While the pandemic has most schools in the country scrambling to figure out how to address learning loss, Edge has been an expert in the arena for decades!

We won’t and don’t quit on any student. We believe in our Edge students because we have the decades of experience and expertise to make this high school graduation dream real.  Find out more about Edge, today! We enroll year round.
