What’s Your Intention for 2022?
The start of a new year is a time of endings and beginnings. It’s also a great time to consider making some changes in your life – and setting an “Intention” can help you do just that.
Intentions vs. Resolutions
“New Years Resolutions” often imply that something is wrong with the way you currently live, and that you want to change it. But “New Years Intentions” focus on creating abundance in your life – they inspire you to live even better! This year, stay positive and try setting an intention. Unlike resolutions, which can involve strict rule setting, intentions can adapt to your situation throughout the year. And intentions don’t have to be overwhelming – sometimes simple changes can affect big outcomes over time.
At Edge High School we encourage healthy habits in all of our students, and one of the most important is also one of the simplest: coming to school. We understand that everyone can fall into bad habits. You may find yourself struggling to break the habit of not coming to school. So why not set an intention about coming to school? Try saying “I am a committed Edge student – I come to school every day”. You may be surprised how that one sentence can make a difference in your life.
Coming to school can help you graduate
When students improve their attendance rates by coming to school, they improve their chances for graduating. A little effort can lead to a big success! Research shows that missing 10 percent of school, or about 18 days a year, can have a negative impact on academic performance. The more you attend, the more you achieve.
Coming to school prepares you for the future
School does more than teach you academic subjects – it helps you learn new skills, including social skills. Those skills and knowledge will help you now and later in life. Also, good attendance shows potential employers that you are reliable.
Coming to school can help you find your purpose
School helps you learn all kinds of new things. It can inspire you to explore subjects that you never thought you would be interested in, and help develop interests that can impact your choice of career or post-high school education options. It can help you discover what’s truly unique about YOU!
We’re here to help!
If you are struggling to get to school, for any reason, Edge teachers and counselors are here for you. We will work with you to identify barriers to attendance and work together to remove them! We care about you and want to see you here! Just reach out and ask us how you can start a new intention today that will impact your success tomorrow.
