You may know that EDGE is a great place to make a fresh start. We help our students tackle credit recovery and achieve success regardless of their learning styles – and on a schedule that works for them. But what is it really like to be an EDGE student? To find out the answer, we sat down with EDGE graduate Lindsey Munto. Here’s what she had to say.
When and why did you attend EDGE?
“I decided to go to Edge in December 2019 after struggling in traditional school and being behind in credits. I attended from January 2020 until I graduated in October 2021.”
What is your favorite memory of your time at EDGE?
“My favorite memory of my time at Edge was definitely the people and teachers there that created an open atmosphere. I will never forget the relationships the teachers made with the students and how they try and connect with everyone.”
Who is/was your favorite teacher at EDGE and why?
“My favorite teachers at Edge are Brett Dodds, Greg Cooper, and Date Thatcher because they have worked there and been there for me since I started. I’ve never had teachers like them before.”
For what dreams and/or goals did EDGE help you prepare?
“One goal that Edge helped me with was raising my confidence. After I started going there I felt more comfortable talking to people and my teachers – unlike the traditional school I attended before. For example, while I was at previous schools I wouldn’t even feel comfortable getting up to get a tissue, while at Edge it felt like a second home. I was comfortable presenting in front of my peers and anyone who wanted to watch, which was a big step for me.”
What one thing would you change or encourage new thinking about — at EDGE?
“One thing I would change about Edge is having more interactive elective options. I loved taking walks during class or having the option to do yoga and it also gives students a break from the computers.”
