Edge High School free tuition charter school graduation ceremony in auditorium

High school graduation. At Edge, we spend a lot of time talking about it, working towards it, dreaming of it. Some days it may feel like it’s far away. But what you’re doing today is just as important as that future goal. Because what you’re doing today is building life skills that will help you succeed far after high school graduation.

What are “Life Skills”?

Edge teaches math, English, social studies and science – all subjects that are required for graduation. But it may surprise you that within each of those classes, our students, just like you, are learning skills that will carry forward after high school and into careers.

Self-Advocacy

When you first arrive at Edge, you’ll take an assessment that helps determine strengths and challenges as a learner. Well, those same skills also apply to life outside of school. How you learn new tasks, the most effective communication style for you, and your ability to set boundaries with others, are all skills that you can take forward into the next stage of your life. Your future career and school options will all require you to set goals and stick to them, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively. And you can learn those skills right here with us! We’ll help you understand what your unique abilities are and how they can fit into future career choices.

Self-Paced Work

Edge students work from a self-paced instructional model, which means you have an individualized learning plan that is created just for you. Each of our students manages tasks and reaches milestones, with the support of teachers and staff. Many of our students enroll behind in credits and not at grade level. As a result, our students are often at different levels of learning within the same classroom, but our self-paced instructional model means that you can work at your own pace and receive one-on-one instruction from our teachers. For students who may have fallen behind in traditional classrooms where all learners receive the same level of instruction, our one-on-one model helps teachers track student understanding and offer support. And if you’re a student who wants to work ahead, you don’t have to wait until the end of a full semester to gain credits – many Edge students can complete a course in 8-12 weeks or even less, and even graduate from high school early!

An Eye on the Future

Our self-paced learning model differentiates us from traditional high schools. At Edge, we start with you – understanding the unique challenges that are present in your life, and building a flexible path to graduation that reflects those circumstances. But it also puts you in the driver’s seat – you are in charge of learning, at your own pace. Motivation, focus and reliability – those are all skills that every employer values. We’ll help you see that your future job opportunities are not limited by experience –or anything else.  The life skills you build with us can open doors!. Find out more today!
