You may have heard that Edge High School is a “Charter School”. But what does that even mean? There are a lot of misconceptions about what a charter school is – from students and even from other schools! To clear things up, here’s a quick explanation.
We’re the Same…But Different
Being a charter school means that we receive state funding but operate independently from any other school district in the state. What’s important about that is that we are free to use our own educational methods to achieve the same graduation goals as every other Arizona public school. So the minute you walk through our doors, you’ll see that we do things a lot differently than other high schools – because we can!
We’re Free
Yep, no cost to students, including you. Just like all other public schools, Edge is tuition-free. And that covers summer programs too!
We’re Alternative
“Alternative” just means that we don’t do things the same as you would find in a traditional high school. From shorter days to self-paced learning to 1:1 support and teachers who go by their first names, we just don’t fit the trad school model.
We’re for Everyone!
We welcome every type of learner at Edge. So you may be surprised by who you find when you enroll here. Here’s a list of reasons why you may want to enroll at Edge:
