When you walk through the doors of Edge High School, you can tell that things are different. Classmates and staff know your name and say hi. Your teachers go by their first names. Daily check-ins let us know how you’re doing and what may be challenging you right now. But another way we are not like a traditional high school is harder to see. That’s because we are a self-paced learning community. Self-paced learning puts you in charge of your path to graduation, on a schedule that is yours alone. At Edge, you’re the boss of you!
What Is Self-Paced Learning?
In a traditional high school, you learn in a classroom that is scheduled for a certain number of weeks to fill out a quarter or semester. But what if you’re studying a subject that is easy for you? What if you’ve already completed a lot of the class material at your former high school? Or what if you need a little extra time and support to get through the curriculum? Self-paced learning puts you in control of the time it takes to pass a class. Many classes at Edge High School use an online learning model that enables you to complete coursework and progress through classes at a pace that works for you. We’ll check in with you regularly to see how it’s going, if you’re meeting the milestones you’ve set for yourself, and if you need any resources to support you in getting to your goals. We want you to succeed!
How Will It Work For You?
The biggest outcome of self-paced learning is graduation your way. We’ll help you set up a class schedule that accommodates your life circumstances, including work and family commitments outside of school. At Edge, about half of our students graduate during the school year. The other half graduate at the more traditional time in the spring. Students that graduate before spring receive their diploma right away and can go on to start careers or jump into secondary learning options. But no matter when you graduate, you are welcome to walk in a graduation ceremony that we host for all graduates every spring.
Whether you’re a motivated learner, someone who needs a little extra support, or a student who just needs to finish a few classes before graduation, Edge High School’s self-paced learning schedule is here for you. Learn more about how Edge can help get you to your graduation goals – enroll today.
